AWESOME ILEMBE & ONEXUS MUSIC BUSINESS PROGRAMME

It all seems so easy: you record a couple of songs, play some gigs, sell CD’s, get your face on TV and the bucks, groupies and fame come rolling in. But is it really that easy?

That’s what you see around you right? Well, yes – but what you don’t get to see is what happens behind the scenes: the years of hard work and all the people and business involved. Read on if you want to know the answers to questions about the business of the music industry.

Awesome Africa International Arts Festival has partnered with ILembe District Municipality and Onexus Music Business Solutions to offer musicians in the ILembe region a two- week music business programme. Primarily funded by National Lotteries Commission (NLC) under their Arts, Culture and Heritage. As a catalyst for social upAwesome Ilembe WS 2015 LR3lifting, the NLC is passionate about changing lives through the promotion of Arts.

The Awesome Africa is inviting all musicians, music managers, music producers and others who want to know more about the business of music to attend a music business course to be held at the Luthuli Museum in Groutville from 22 August 2016 to September 02, 2016.

The opportunity will be offered to 80 individuals who are already producing music, but are lacking business skills. All you have to do is submit a 150 -word motivation letter stating why you should be selected together with your contact and personal details. The deadline for this submission is the 10th August 2016. Successful applications will be notified by the 16 August 2016.

The topics to be covered in the two-week programme include copyrights, management contracts, royalties, recording contracts, distribution and marketing your music amongst other topics. You will also get to listen to invited professional musicians speaking at the programme.

That’s not all; a selection of talented musicians will also get an opportunity to perform at the Awesome Ilembe International Arts Festival.

Sign up and change the course of your future, remember talent is not enough in today’s industry, business skills matter beyond everything so take advantage of this rare opportunity.

YOUR music, YOUR talent, YOUR future.
